Dr. Evelyn Drayton makes a wonderful analogy between picking out a good, tasty watermelon and picking out the wolf in sheep's clothing from among God's people in Watermelon Faith. Just as you have to thump around on a watermelon and listen for a particular sound to determine whether or not it is ready to be eaten, likewise, we must ask God for wisdom and spiritual discernment as we thump around in order to discern the workings of Satan among the church family.
Dr. Drayton exposes Satan in the church by shining the light on his "territorial cracks and crevices." She shares with us four very important things to keep in mind as she makes the analogy between a watermelon and the Christian:
- Once disconnected from the vine, the lifespan of the watermelon deteriorates.
- Be careful not to bruise your melons.
- Watermelons can endure sunshine and rain and still taste good.
- Be sure to keep the enemy from the patch.
How do these four play out in the life of a Christian?
- Any Christian who is disconnected from fellowship with other Christians will deteriorate.
- Don't allow sin in your life.
- As a soldier for Christ, one can come out of any spiritual battle full of Joy and Faith.
- Keep Satan away from your life and from the House of God.
As Dr. Drayton says "...everyone has their own wolf assigned to them in an attempt to spread lies and hinder the Gospel." That is so true. She shows you how to spot that wolf and how to resist that wolf through prayer and faith in God so he will flee away.
Just as a watermelon may look good on the outside, it does not mean it is good on the inside. Likewise, that wolf may look good on the outside in it's sheep's clothing but try the spirit and see whether it is full of lies and deceit. Remember, Satan presents himself as an angel of light.
Watermelon Faith will open up your spiritual eyes to the truth of God's Word and will show you how to become a person who prays and not one who preys.
