With a beautiful and unique way Steven L. Jordan, Sr. in The Sacred Driven Couple, makes the analogy between the life cycle of the butterfly and the relationship between a husband and wife. Jordan writes: "Just as the process for the butterfly is not a glamorous one, neither are the steps in the process to develop our relationships, enhance them, or, in some cases, completely revive them. But as with the butterfly, the avoidance of any stage of development could literally retard the result and kill any potential for life."
Jordan asks a rather sobering question and that is: Why aren't you happy and fulfilled in your relationship? And he sets out to help you answer that question, - not only the "why?" but the "how?" The short chapter titles which say it all include: Male and Female Made He Them; God's Word...Foundation of Sacredness; Love...More Than Just a Word; Application of God's Love: Forgiveness; God First, Everything Else Second; Be Real With God; Spiritual Intimacy...the Mountaintop; Spiritual Intimacy with God and Our Partners; You Have Everything You Need; If You Love Me, Trust Me; Giving of Yourself; and A Sacred Covenant with God.

Each chapter begins with a certain stage of a butterfly's development, and Jordan brings it on home to explain some aspect in the development of the marital relationship. Each chapter also reveals a sacred secret to be shared between the couple.

Jordan shares throughout some of his own relationship struggles and how he and his wife overcame them to experience more intimacy, especially with God. For those who are not yet married but are seeking a mate, he offers three pieces of advice: (1) Trust God with the decision for a mate. (2) Wait on God, Don't be in a hurry. (3) Believe it when the Lord finally brings that person in your life.

Just as the caterpillar crawls before it can fly, your relationship must crawl before it can fly!
