What is happening in the African-American community? Pastor Frederick D. Haynes expounds for us on what is taking place in the African-American community through a series of sermons in Healing Our Broken Village. "Generally speaking, the African-American village, or community, of today, is broken,"says Dr. Haynes in the introduction, "When our village is broken that indicates that there are broken people in our village, and when we have broken people, we have broken families, a broken economy, broken churches and broken schools."

Charlene Curry's book documents her spiritual journey as a military spouse facing her own challenges in raising her family while meeting the expectations placed upon her. She shares with us the joys, the social pressures especially while living in foreign lands, fears, depression, feelings of guilt, and grief over the loss of a child. Her main source of comfort was the strength she received from placing her trust in God. Prayer was what brought her through the many difficulties and emotional turmoil she went through in her career as a military spouse. The renewed strength she gained each day from God transformed her life and thus the lives of countless others who came in contact with her. This book will be an encouragement to many readers, not only to those in the military but also to civilians. www.believebooks.com

Fifty-two Lessons on Success Straight From the Bible dbbtgb.jpg

These fifty-two lessons - one for each week of the year -- show entrepreneurs how their business can be a success by using the biblical principles on money management and on running a business, for the glory of God. Steward, CEO of the world's largest African-American-owned company shows how the teachings from the Bible are not just for Sunday mornings, but are for every aspect of life-inside the church as well as outside the church. Steward discusses such things as enthusiasm, accountability, customer satisfaction, and networking as important in the success of any business. Read it. Grow from it. You won't be disappointed.

The letters contained in this book are letters written from a father, who if he were on his death bed, would say these very same things to his daughters. Ironically, Whyte commenced the writing of these letters while he was in the hospital undergoing a routine checkup for chest pains. Although the letters contained in this book are directed towards young black women, they speak to all young women. This is a must read for all young women and makes an ideal gift for graduation. www.letterstoyoungblackwomen.org
